Border Danceworks Expectations of Competitive Troupes and Eisteddfod Troupe Members
To all students doing troupe in 2017, we cannot stress enough that if you have made this commitment you must COMMIT FOR THE WHOLE YEAR, which means attending all classes and practices and putting 100% effort into classes and dancing at all the competitions and the end of year concert. If you cannot do that please do not do troupe. Of course we know sometimes things come up that are unavoidable, we just ask that you do the best you can. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE BELOW.

This is a rough guide for entry prices, everyone who goes into the competition pays to get in the door. Adults range from $25 - $30, u16 $15 - $20, some comps have an u10 price. Crown is more expensive, this is just for u16, adult and performance, $75 + adults and u16 $55 +. Also take into consideration travel and possibly accomodation.
There is a competition calendar up at the studio, please feel free to take a photo of this. I will have some for everyone next year, with the troupes that are dancing at particular competitions and hopefully our studio showcase date.
Students must make a concerted effort to attend all competitions and classes, this means turning up to class on time. Plus extra classes before competitions. If you cannot make a competition, please give us as much notice as possible, (at least a week to prepare the group).
Remember when you miss a competition it changes the routines and positions for everyone else.
Shoes required will be discussed with classes
Troupe members will need to purchase beige underwear which can be worn under your costumes, no coloured bra's, and dance stockings will be required.
100% effort must be put into classes.
REMEMBER WHEN YOU ARE PART OF A TROUPE YOU ARE PART OF A TEAM, IF YOU DO NOT MAKE THE EFFORT YOU LET EVERYONE DOWN.
Do not wear jeans or restrictive clothing to classes and keep hair off your face.
Do not use your mobile phone during class time
Troupe members need to be aware of their behaviour, not only during class and at competitions but outside of this as well, no gossiping about other troupe members or members of other dance schools. This is suppose to be a fun supportive environment, where everyone can feel comfortable.
At competitions hair, hairpieces or hats must be well secured so they do not fall out. Presentation is a big part of dancing, you must make the effort with your hair and make-up.
Do not wear current troupe costumes for solo's, duo's and trio's at competitions.
If you forget an accessory to your costume, you cannot dance in that routine, unless some other solution can be made, see kerry or kylie. Please make a check list of all your items and check it before you come to competitions and before you leave the competition.
When you have finished your troupe routine at a competiton, do not run back infront of the judges, go around the back if you need to get to the other side.
